Brooklyn Ann Hebdon

Here she is:

Wednesday, July 22, 2009
6:08pm
10 lbs 1 oz
20 1/2"

I went to the doctor Wednesday morning at 9 am and was still only at a 3 and 60% effaced the same as the week before, which I couldn't believe we had gone hiking about two miles the Saturday before and I had walked everywhere and mowed my lawn. We decided to do an induction even though I really wanted to go on my own. So Jeremy went to his dentist appointment at 10 and then came home to get me so we could go to the hospital and 11 to start the induction. Jeremy's mom came and got the kids, I don't know what we would do without her. The kids were so exited to have a sleepover at Grandma's.
They induced me at 12:30pm once they got everything ready and by 4:30pm I had had enough contractions and back labor was setting in so I got an epidural and at 5:45pm they prepared everything for delivery.
The doctor asked how big I thought she was I bet that she would be nine pounds the doctor thought 8 lbs 3 oz as she was half way out he changed his mind and said 10 1/2 lbs. Well he was close she was 10 lbs 1 oz. We were the talk of labor and delivery that I delivered a 10 lbs baby and didn't even tear! Which has been great I have torn on all my others and that makes a painful recovery. Go figure on the biggest one I didn't! The doctor said if I had not had an epidural I would have torn so yeah for epidurals!!!
At 6:08 she was born and at about 6:30 they took her to the NICU because she had a lot of moisture in her lungs and because she was so big her glucose levels were low (I guess that is normal with big babies) but luckily only the first time they checked it it was low and after that it was normal. On the way to the recovery room they wheeled me by baby and then I didn't see her again until 3:15am. I don't think I have ever been so excited to be woken up that early before. I took her in my arms and feed her and loved her and just looked at her. I hadn't realized that Jeremy had not even held her yet so at 4am he got his turn to snuggle with her. We are so grateful she is here with us and is okay.
Grandma brought the kids the next day, as you can tell from the pictures they think the world of her. Bradley was not so sure at the hospital but he now touches her head and says "Hold".
We went home Thursday night I wasn't feeling the greatest but I wanted to get out of the hospital and Friday was Bradley's Birthday. Friday I got the chills and a fever twice. Jeremy's sister took Hadley and Madelyn for a sleepover that night which was a great blessing. I woke up Saturday morning with the chills and after an hour they did not stop even with a warm bath. After some phone calls to the hospital we headed to the ER. By then the chills were gone but I had a fever of 102 they hooked me up to some IV's and gave me lots of drugs and took a urine sample to be cultured. They thought I had a bladder infection or some of the Placenta left in the Uterus. So 3 hours later we went home and later that afternoon after we got the kids the chills started again worse than before the poor kids just kept stairing at me as I was shacking uncontrollably and crying. Jeremy called someone in the ward and they gave me a blessing and they immediately went away but the fever came on.
Monday a great Friend (Vicky) should up at my door and offered to take the kids she had them for three hours while I took Brooklyn to get her hearing teat redone, she passed and to get her biliruben checked, she passed, checked and doctor appointment for her. She is now 9lbs 10 oz. Thanks so much Vicky I don't know what I would have done without you.
At 3:15 pm another friend took the kids so I would go to the doctor where we found out I had a very very very bad bladder infection (7000 e-coli). I was told it was a good thing we went to the ER because there was no doubt that I would have been hospitalized by the next day with kidney infections. I have been told to sit and relax as much possible and drink as much as possible so that it does not get worse because it is not gone yet. We will see how that goes with Jeremy leaving so scout camp tomorrow :). I went and got new movies for the kids and a couple books for me so hopefully we will good. Brooklyn is actually sleeping a few hours at a time so that helps too.
Even with all the ups and downs I am so great for our little blessing she is such a doll. We all love her. I was so scared to have one more and now that she is here I wonder what I was thinking.

First things first. She is a BEAUTIFUL baby! Congrats! I'm glad that the delivery went well. How yucky to get sick so quick afterwards. You are an incredible wife and mother! Good luck with Jeremy being gone. I don't know if I could do it.

Congratulations to all! We're so happy that little Brooklyn is here and healthy. A true blessing. We're sorry to hear that your post-partum has started with illness and an absent husband. Life never seems to go the way we plan, does it? We wish that we could be among the lucky few that live close enough to help out and to enjoy your newest addition in person. Just know that our thoughts, prayers and happy wishes are with you all. We love and miss you guys!
